TO PURCHASE

This arrangement of Rimsky-Korsakov’s classic fast and furious showpiece is challenging, but quite playable. The original has been expanded by the addition of a brief introduction, a couple of modulations in the middle, and a coda of some length (in comparison to the overall brevity of the piece) tacked on at the end. To accommodate the preferences of various soloists, different versions of the accompaniment are included on the accompanying CD. These separate tracks are all at different speeds, ranging from medium-fast to “hold on to your horses!” tempo. The soloist may choose the version of his or her liking for performances, and use slower tempos for practice sessions. For a successful performance of the band-accompanied version, the ensemble is NOT required to have the same technical facility as the soloist.
