TO PURCHASE
This arrangement features four Baroque-era Christmas classics from three Italian baroque composers: Corelli, Manfredini, and Torelli. All pieces were originally scored as concerti grossi for a large string ensemble, and published as portions of multi-movement works titled “Christmas Concerto”.
Movements selected are the Pastorale from Corelli’s concerto, the Vivace from the Locatelli, and both Largo and Allegro from the Manfredini. These movements were selected because they are generally considered the most popular movements from their respective Christmas concertos. The arranger has taken these works, originally for large ensembles, and re-shaped them as solos of moderate difficulty, suitable for a holiday performance or a chamber or church performance any time of the year. The varied movements compliment each other well and may be performed together as a whole or individually. Movements may also be mixed and matched at the soloist’s discretion, according the situational needs of a performance.
